Q: We are staying in Banff and have a free ticket for the Jasper Tram, but some have told me to take the Banff Gondola instead.

A: Both are beautiful and if you've got time, try to see both. But the question you might ask is: where can you make one of the most beautiful, scenic drives in the world? The answer to this is the Banff-Jasper Parkway. It can be done in 2-1/2 hours, but you'll want to spend much more time. Incredible glaciers (you are allowed to climb on the Colombia Icefields and can take a guided tour of its fissures), waterfalls, lakes and the most stunning mountaintop views you will ever see from a car. The drive alone is worth the trip. The tram will be merely the icing on the cake.
