weddings???

Q: i am getting married in may next year and well i am looking for somewhere nice to have my wedding at. i live in calgary. does anybody know somewhere good?

A: I assume you mean your reception? Depends on how much $$$$ you're willing to spend. The Wedding Pavillion on the west side of the city is quite nice (been to two weddings there, and they can do the whole thing, from ceremony to midnight snacks), and the Palliser Hotel downtown is quite lovely and beautifully decorated for wedding receptions. If you're on a bit more of a budget, you can check into some of the more moderately priced hotels in the area, like the Radisson or the Coast Plaza Hotel, or community centres throughout the Calgary area - they're often VERY reasonably priced, and allow you to do some of the work yourself when it comes to decorations - can save you a ton of money! Suggestions for really unique venues might include the Rotary House at the Stampede - cool log-style building with room for up to 180 people in a reception, or 125 for sit-down meal. Or the Calgary Zoo Atrium - romantic, lush, dreamy setting complete with birds, butterflies, and built-in flowers :) or the Safari Lodge, in the heart of the newest addition to the Zoo, the wild African Pavillion, which can accomodate as little as 80 or as many as 300 for a sit-down dinner - very exotic and a locale your guests will talk about for years to come! Wouldn't it be cool to take your children there in the future and be able to say "This is where mommy and daddy got married!" As a final thought, depending on the size of your wedding, you may opt for a very small and intimate setting like at the Deane House or one of Calgary's other plentiful, elegant restuarants. Regardless of the location, keep in mind that the real purpose of the day is to start your new life together with the one you love - the location you choose to celebrate the event isn't as important as the event itself :) Congratulations!!!
