Q: Any body studying/doing MBA from the university of calgary if you please tell me how is the university ranking in terms of MBA and in general. I would appreciate your honest opnion.
A: next year, i'll be starting my BComm at U of C, and plan to do an mBA. i was born and raised in Calgary, so I might be a bit biased, but here's my two cents. The Maclean's magazine and other university ranking systems rank U of C as a whole rather low, but remember all these ranking systems are from the east in ontario and quebec, so they are extremely biased towards their provinces. they'll say Univ of Ottawa is the best place for an mBA. But where is all the business happening? All the big deals? All the jobs? In Calgary. So who cares what they think out east in the magazine rankings. The major employers are in Alberta, and they highly admire and respect mBA graduates from the haskayne school in Calgary. The business building at u of c is excellent and the profs are exceptional from what I've heard. Over 95% of BComm and mBA graduates are hired within 3 months of graduation. there's my two cents.
