building a house in calgary...?

Q: anyone building in aubirn bay and know how long it takes and what house colors you can choose?

A: The new home starts in Calgary are still at record highs, which means the drain on the local resources have resulted in big delays when building. Generally speaking, building a new home anywhere in the Calgary area will take at least 8 months and as much as 14 months from signing the paper work to moving in. As for the colours you get to choose from, the possibilities are endless!! Many of the homes in Auburn Bay have vinyl siding accented with cedar shakes. Siding comes in literally dozens and dozens of colours. If you're building in the higher end area of Auburn Bay Estates, you may have the option of stucco, which is lovely, but has fewer colour options. The only real restriction on choosing colours is the builders choices offered to you, along with architectural controls - that basically means if there are 10 houses on one street, only two may choose the same color, and those two must have at least 3 houses between them. There are variations to those controls, but that's the basic idea. When it comes to choosing colours for a basic home with siding and accents, you select your siding colour, your accent colour (and in the case of many Auburn Bay homes, you might also be able to choose the wood shade for your cedar shakes) and then you choose your roofing colours. Once that's done, you may have the option of choosing a door colour and matching garage door colour. Hope that helps. :)
