I have to be in Calgary for a conference in October. Could you please suggest cheap accommodation options?

Q: The conference will be held at the Westin Calgary Hotel. I will be on an extremely TIGHT budget, so I am looking for economical board & lodging places in or around the Hotel area. The only condition is that the place should be neat, clean, and safe :) I also would not mind staying as a "paying guest" with a family in that area. Is this possible these days? Apart from this, a cheap but comfortable place some distance away would be fine too, but it should be well connected by bus - so that I can easily get to the hotel for the conference sessions. A: I think I have the answer for you. How about staying in a hostel? There are two in the downtown region of Calgary and you don't have to be a student to stay at them. People of all ages use hostels these days for their reasonable rates. The Auberge Chez Nous offers travellers a European style hostel in central Calgary.
