Q: I m from India. I have had my interview already(JUL 5). The embassy took my passport. I asked for details (AUG 30). They sent that they are doing some 'background verification' and it might take 6 months. I have to get there in 2 months. When can I expect the immigration to take place????
A: If you had a pressing need of an urgent sort, there might be a slight chance of getting Immigration to expedite your case. But it owuld have to be something nearly akin to an emergency, with suppoting documents ... and even then the chances are minimal. Basically, you have to wait your turn in line, and the more you contact them, sometimes, the closer they will review your documents and perhaps the longer it will take, or worse. If you have something scheduled in Canada in the hopes the process would be done by Nov, then you will need to contact the people there and let them know that things are taking longer than you expected.
