Q: And how can I get one?

A: Each province has different classes of licenses. A class 5 would in most provinces be a regular drivers license. Class 4 is taxicabs, class 3 is smaller truck with an air brake endorsement, Class 2 is school bus, Class 1 is a tractor trailer license requiring an air brake endoresment. Class 6 is a motorcycle license and a Class 7 is a learners permit. Ontario has letters but I'm not familiar with them. All provinces have web-sites for Motor Vechicles, so to make sure, check the province you plan to reside in. * If your license is suspended in 1 province, you are suspended in all.To get a license you must pass a written test and a road test, although a valid license from another country may only require passing the written one. Check the province and you will need proper I.D.If you are a newly licensened driver some provinces also have a graduated license program for the first 2 years. Again , check the province to be sure.
