Q: I am originally from Hawaii & California, so having 4 seasons a year is new to me. How do I prepare to work & go out everyday?
A: I grew up here and I've never worn a pair of long-johns in my life. :) However, when you are getting used to it you may want to as I'm sure you'll be very cold. However, those really cold days don't come too often in Calgary thank heavens. If you worry too much about fashion you'll freeze. I've had friends You'll want a very good pair of boots (Sorrels are wonderful), A warm winter coat, warm mittens - I find mittens warmer then gloves but others like gloves. A toque is a must for cold days as your ears will freeze faster then most anything. Warm up your car before you head out anywhere and you'll be fine. Welcome to Calgary
