Q: I live in Calgary but I don't know any good places to take pictures. I've gotten into digital photography and I would like to know of some places in Calgary that would get me some great shots. I was thinking of going to the "Welcome to Calgary" sign by the C.O.P, the Saddledome and 17th Ave. I would also like to get the Calgary Tower, but I don't know of a hill or vantage point to get a decent shot of it. I would also like to get a shot of the Bow River at Sunrise/sunset, but don't know where to shoot it from. If anyone could help me and suggest more Calgary locations, that would be awesome, thanks!
A: There's lots of great places in Calgary to get some good photographs. - lots of fantastic old buildings in the downtown core and other older parts of the city (they look great in black & white) - Glenmore Reservoir (you can get the reservoir in the foreground with the skyline in the background) - the river - 8th Avenue - Devonian Gardens - Heritage Park Try to consider 'unusual' or unconventional views of everyday things. Take the Calgary Tower as an example: Do you need to find a hill or vantage point to photograph it? Try shooting it from somewhere along 9th Ave or Centre Street. Stand right under it. Try to look at things a little differently. Feel free to contact me through my profile if you've got any more questions.
