im crossing the border tomorrow

Q: ok i am in alberta right now heading to montana tomorrow with my uncle and my 3 cousins i however do not have a drivers licence i have the following grade 11 school id birth certificate care card debit card social insurence number that is all i have am i good to go or do i need a valid drivers license we plan to go to the highway to the sun tomorrow in montana and i was hoping someone could answer this im 18 by the way

A: Hi. I live on the Ontario-Michigan border and cross all the time. You didn't give your age, but if you're 16 or under you just need your birth certificate. That will suffice. Over sixteen requires your birth certificate and one piece of government-issued photo ID (a driver's licence - which you say you don't have - military service card, etc.) Sorry to say, but I don't think anything above qualifies as proper documentation. I should point out, as well, that if you are a minor you will need as well an authorization letter from your parent(s) giving you permission to cross the border.
