Q: I'm getting married next year and am looking for some ideas to get married in Edmonton, Alberta or any of the surrounding areas (Sherwood Park, St.Albert, etc). Any ideas? Looking for somewhere I can hold the ceremony outdoors preferrably.. no churches. Please no suggestions to websites... most of them are American and that's not what I'm asking for..

A: I realize you said no websites because you thought they were mostly American - how about just those exclusive to Edmonton Weddings? These have almost everything you need to know about the in's and out's for planning a wedding here. http://www.edmontonplus.ca/feature/wedding/60235/index.jsp http://www.edmontonweddingguide.com/home.htm Here are three outdoor wedding venues - one is in Sherwood Park and the other in the city and the other south of the city. You should be aware that almost any outdoor venue you choose that will likely be fees involved. Hastings Lake Gardens The focal point of an outdoor wedding is the location of the ceremony. This 400 sq. ft Gazebo makes for the perfect natural back drop for any special day. The spacious manicured yard will accommodate seating for up to 200 people. Indoor facilities for inclement weather are also available. Parking for immediate family up to 30 vehicles. Overflow parking is located 500 yards away. Address: 51056 Range Road 204 Sherwood Park Alberta Canada T8G 1E5 1 780 662-2494 Wedding Chapel The Wedding Chapel offers a spiritual sanctuary for couples to exchange their wedding vows. People of all faiths are welcome to celebrate their marriage at the Wedding Chapel. Address: 9119-128A Avenue Edmonton AB Canada T5E 0J6 1 780 475-1620 Devonian Botanic Garden The beauty and tranquility of the Devonian Botanic Garden with lush gardens and breathtaking scenery, can meet all of your wedding needs. Before even thinking of an outdoor wedding it might be good to read Edmonton's rules on outdoor weddings - permits, etc. http://www.edmonton.ca/CommPeople/WeddingGuidelinesCOEParkland.pdf Here is a list of all outdoor locations where weddings are allowed but call to find out about charges and permits. Fort Edmonton Park Rutherford House (U of A) Provincial Museums of Alberta & Govenment House Muttart Conservatory Dick Mather Gazebo Grant Notley Gazebo Wilbur McIntyre Gazebo Sunridge Ski Lodge Country Lodge Con Boland Gardens Alberta Heritage Exposition Park - Leduc Devonion Botoanical Gardens Devon Lions Campground Gazebo Centennial Park - Devon (no charge, no booking) Festival Place - Sherwood Park Fort Saskatchewan Historical Park Everyone has some good suggestions unfortunately many of them may be off limits according to city ordinance. Hopefully his is of help to you - even with the websites. Good Luck.
