Looking for a cheap, romantic anniversary idea for March.?

Q: I am looking to surprise my husband of almost 2 years with a romantic anniversary. We didn't have a honeymoon, so i want this to take its place. I HAS to be cheap, we don't have a lot of $$.

A: Everyone wants their "honeymoon" regardless of when you take it to the ultimate romantic experience. Unfortunately romantic getaways do tend to be rather costly. I checked all the "romance pkgs" at the Mayfield Ind and they are completely booked every single weekend at least until the end of March. The West Harvest Inn only has a 2 1/2 *Star rating and for $180 per night you're not getting much - not even a jacuzzi - it looks like it could use a complete update. Romance comes with a price - in the hundreds. A few of the top places are Hotel MacDonald - historic and very romantic. Who won't want to stay in a "castle" complete with a reputed "ghost" - and the view is fantastic. Union Bank Inn - wonderful historic rooms with fireplaces, cookies on your pillow and the most wonderful bedding. Their restaurant is the ultimate in dining. The Sutton Place Hotel and suites while definitely newer has romantic pkgs including a excellent dinner and a spa treatment at Eveline Charles Salon and Spa.(you don't even have to go outdoors to get to it) So where do you go from here? I willing to bet that this weekend will have to suit your romantic soul rather than your husbands because he's likely to be happy wherever you are. Let's take a look at Bed and Breakfasts in Edmonton. I did a check of them a came up with these Romantic ones: The McLellan House Bed and Breakfast ($120 -$150) with a 4.5 *Star rating in a Turn of the Century Victorian House on 84 Ave by the U of A - walk to White Ave and play tourist. 11135 - 84 Ave Edmonton, AB T6G 0V9 Toll Free Reservations Line: 1-800-433-8717 Phone: (780) 433-8707 http://www.bbedmonton.com/mclellan If you don't mind driving a few minutes west of Edmonton to Wabamum Lake for approx. $100 per night with a lakefront here it is. Whitewood Sands Bed & Breakfast Hosts: T. Mandreck #233, 4521 Lakeshore Rd. PO Box 368 Wabamun, AB T0E2K0 http://www.bbedmonton.com/whitewoodsands Drive a little and pay $129 and you'll be treated to a suite with a Jacuzzi tub in Thorsby. It looks fantastic - kind of secluded - take long romantic walks. The Heartland Inn Bed & Breakfast Hosts: Roland & Carole Scheetz PO Box 169 Thorsby, AB T0C 2P0 Phone: (780) 789-3601 Fax: (780) 789-3615 http://www.bbedmonton.com/heartland There of course are lots of other Bed and Breakfasts in Edmonton but I only chose those which "fit" the bill of romance and things to do. If you're looking to take him out of the ultimate romantic dinner then may I suggest Edmonton's most romantic restaurant: The Treperie If you can find someone with a SUTP coupon book ask them for the coupon called a "A Toast To You" for $50 for Two you can enjoy a deluxe dinner for two. Actually if you can convince someone to let you coupon hunt through it or the Entertainment Book you'll find lots of coupons to save you money and you can put together a romantic getaway at anyone of the hotels and resorts listed in them. Have an awesome dinner somewhere romantic, stay at a historic bed and breakfast, play tourist and go back to the room for a Jacuzzi and some bubbly and you've got the Ultimate Romantic Honeymoon. Hopefully these will give you some insight as to what is available. If I think of any more - I will post them here. Good Luck.
