Q: Okay so this is a question for people who live in Edmonton or have lived there. I live on the north side and im looking for a school colose to where I live. What are some of the good high school. They dont need to be french emersion! okay. so this is to the person with the long answer. i never said in any of my questions that I had started high school. im in jr.high. and when did I say that I went to Spain with a choir I said a group of people.

A: *** Aly - I apologize for assuming that you started HIGH School in Sept. I totally understand that you would have gone with a GROUP of people to Spain because when you go with a choir you also need chaperones - so yes, I already assumed that you didn't go by yourself. I just thought that maybe starting Cyber school may have been because your mainstream school wouldn't give you the time off to go to Spain - I'm sorry if the comment seemed to offend you. My question still stands though - was there a problem with the school you were attending since you changed to the Cyber school? If we knew then helping you find the right fit of a high school might be a little easier. The websites and information I gave was totally intended only for that purpose - information. I had hoped it might help you with your decision - that's all. Aly: I'm a little confused because you had mentioned that you started high school in Sept - then a month or so ago you started Cyber school (home schooling) I believe in between you took time off to travel to Spain with your choir You also don't mention exactly when you plan to attend mainstream high school again - soon or are you thinking Sept? I'm not sure if you're aware that this city is divided into School Zones - meaning that each district is assigned a high school. This certainly doesn't mean that you can't attend another high school outside your zone because you can of course but you must also apply to do so. The school you have decided on will process your application based on their vacancy rate and your academic marks just to give you a few. If you decide to go to a Catholic high school like MacDonald - your parents must be enrolled in the Catholic portion of education taxes. Many of the Catholic high schools prioritize their admissions by school support - meaning if your parents are Public school supporters you may end up at the bottom of the waiting list to see if there are vacancies. You may want to check this out with your parents. How is your Cyber schooling going? Hopefully you are keeping up with it because trying to get back into a mainstream high school without all your classes up to date may be challenging. My son was home schooled and when he decided to back to main stream he found it very difficult because of the level of the work and classes. There are lots of GOOD High schools in Edmonton and the following website will list them. Note that you can click on them to bring you to their individual websites. Most include an email address to the schools where you can write even for more information. One more thing - every high school encourages students to come and do a visit to see if they would be interested in the school. I encourage you to call the schools that might interest you and speak to one of the counselors and take a tour. Most of the high schools come March/April will start having Open House for prospective students and their parents. Keep in mind that while one high school may be right for some may not be right for you. Figure out your interests and goals and then make an informed decision as to what school you should attend - I would suggest not making a decision based on where others goes but choosing one that is a RIGHT FIT for you. Discuss the pros and cons of the schools with your parents as they may have some insight into them you may have missed.
