Q:
A: There are no mountains in Edmonton but there is a beautiful river valley with miles and miles of hiking/biking trails. Also, east of Edmonton is Elk Island Park. Again, no mountains, but there is a lake you can walk around and a Bison Preserve. Jasper is more like 2.5 hours from Edmonton, but as you get closer to it, you get to towns like Edson and Hinton which are more mountainous. You could just stick around in the city and enjoy the summer festivals, walk the river valley, eat some great international cuisine, and stay up really late to watch the sunset. Maybe even catch some northern lights.
