How cold are the winters in Halifax(compared to Montreal/Toronto)? Is there work there?

Q: So how cold does it get(Celcius)? Also would an Australian be able to find work in bars/restaurants/factories/retail? Cheers

A: The source I found said -2 celcius was the average low temperature in January (the lowest of any other month). It also said though that during January, the daily variation can be so little the temperature might never climb above zero all day and the snow is the heaviest in January but many other winter days are just cold but very sunny. You're also right on the warm current in the ocean coming up from Florida. This brings hurricanes all the way up to Halifax on occasion but mostly it just brings milder temperatures. Toronto and Montreal can easilly stay at -20 for weeks at a time. Sometimes much worse (-30 or even down to -40). There's tons of bars in Halifax so I don't imagine there will be a problem finding a job at one. They say if everyone in the city wanted a stool at the counter of a bar all at one time, there'd be enough stools in the city to go around. (that's not including the other tables and chairs). Hope you're there for St. Patty's day and/or Alexander Keith's birthday. If you don't know who that is yet, you'll find out quickly enough.
