Q: I am interested in renting Apartments for a week in Saint John (NB) and another week or 3-4 days in Halifax and 3 days at Cape Breton. I am looking for 2-3 bedroom apartment/suites which can sleep 4 adults and 4 kids and reasonable prices like $500 to $700 per week.
A: At that time of year, the height of the tourist season, it will be difficult to find the type of accommodations you are looking for in that price range. The more likely cost will be in the $1000 - $1200+ per week price range. There are lovely suites in downtown Halifax and in downtown St. John that you will have no trouble tracking down, but not for that price. Personally contact the tourism agencies/departments of each province, or maybe even a travel agent, and get a search started. Cape Breton may be easier than in the cities. Ask about "cottages" rather than apartments and you may have more luck, but most cottages do not accommodate the number of people in your party. Generally they have two bedrooms, each with a double bed and with a pull-out couch in the living area. Sometimes you can get cots added for a small charge. So you may have to consider two cottages.
