Q: I heard a Newfoundland accent and I thought it was pretty cool and since Im moving to Halifax, i was wondering if there is an accent in Nova Scotia. Thanks.

A: Hi! Yes, there is..... I have one! It varies from place to place in the province (as does the Newfie accent). Halifax has a pretty flat accent - I can tell people from different parts of the city like the North End, or Fairview or Spryfield or Sackville from their accent. Cape Breton has a crazy accent. You will know it when you hear it - similar to some Newfoundland accents. Nova Scotians tend to have a very nasal R sound in words like guitar and car. They will often rhyme about and oat. They pronounce "tour" like "tore". Welcome in advance!!!
