Anyone out there from Lower Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia ?

Q: My grandmother was born there and I would like to know what it is like today ... if there are new houses built, new businesses and the population. How about the food and special dishes ? Thanks !

A: It is a little community in Shelburne County in Barrington Municipal district. More and more of Nova Scotia's coastline is being bought up by tourists from other countries. A traditional dish of Nova Scotia generally is "hodgepodge". You boil several of the first spring veggies all together with a little salt - sliced baby carrots, baby red potatoes, peas, beans, turnip - whatever you have. When they are tender, drain the water and toss the veggies with lots of butter and whipping cream. It is absolutely delicious - probably not very healthy, but awesome.
