Q: Well, my cousin lives there and I went up to visit her and the people there are very friendly but they are very loud and boisterous. Is it perhaps because a lot of them are descendants of Irish and Scots, who are well known to be a drinking fighting bunch? And by maritimers I meant Nova Scotians in particular, because that's where my cousin lives. Halifax and Cape Breton.
A: I'm a westerner and have been fortunate enough to be associated with and have friends from the Maritimes for many years. They're no different than anybody else. About 99% of them are decent, friendly, caring honest people. In my younger days, most of the Cape Bretoners that I ran into were hard, tough, and liked a good fight as much as anything. We used to joke that if a Cape Bretoner couldn't find somebody to fight with, he'd fight with himself. Great people, beautiful part of the country. (PS: I have never met a Newfie that I didn't like)
