Q: We need to know what are the cities around Halifax and which is cheaper to rent a 2 bedrooms normal Apartment and generally how much monthly for a 2 bedrooms Apartment in those cities outside of Halifax?Inside Halifax may be more expensive to rent, isn't it??? How long does it take to go into Halifax and is public transportation easy to get from outside Halifax???How about the weather in NS Winter and summer time, does it snow in winter time? Thanks for your help.
A: There's Dartmouth, Bedford, Lower Sackville, Eastern Passage, and Cole Harbour. Anything further out than that you'd better have a car because the bus system doesn't go out that far. Rent for a two bedroom ranges from anywhere between $750-$1200 depending on where you are...but there's always exceptions to the rule. Downtown and closer to all the universities are the most expensive. Cole Harbour and Lower Sackville are probably the least. Stay away from north-end Dartmouth if you can. Nice enough during the day but lots of crime at night. As for public transport, Metro Transit runs a lot of routes (a few more during the school season). But if you're on the outskirts, you're looking at about an hour to get downtown. There are express buses during peak times (Rush Hour) and the Metro Link that runs weekdays. But those only stop at major bus stations along the way. You can find out more at this link: http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit/ Weather here is unpredictable. For the most part, the summer is warm (could get as high as 35 Celsius) and the winters are mild (except for random cold spells). We don't keep a lot of snow. Usually we get one or two massive storms a year that shuts everything down...but other than that, the snow melts away. And being close to the ocean, we get a lot of rain...especially in the spring and fall. Hope all that helps. Also, this site has tons of info for you: http://www.halifax.ca/residents.asp
