Q: Is it true that Montreal closes Jacques Cartier Bridge on the nights of International fireworks for pedestrians to view the fireworks for free? Also, can do view the fireworks from the top of the Mount Royal Park? (from where downtown is visible)
A: Yes. They close the bridge for several hours. The fireworks start at 10:00. I don't think you can see much from Mount Royal Park the view is better from the bridge. High buildings from downtown hide them. I tried seeing them from many places and on the bridge is the best even though you must walk quite a bit because of the bridge closure and the traffic is horrible.
