Crescent or St. Catherines St In Montreal?

Q: I was wondering what the difference is and what street i should stay on for a weekend trip in August I am 19 years old and want to party which is better and whats the attmosphere for both also what hotels would you recomend staying in?

A: Saint Catherine is a very long street that runs east-west in Montreal. In the downtown core, this is where you will find the main malls and shops. Crescent actually intersects with Saint Catherine. It's a short north-south street where you will find the primary "tourist" bars and clubs. By far the most popular area for partying in the city, however, it Saint-Laurent street north of Sherbrooke. It's about a kilometre east of Crescent, and this is where all of the locals hang out. It had more of a french flavour. As for hotels, it depends on your budget - there are TONS of decent hotels. Check out the map I've provided where I've marked down a large number of major hotels: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=hotel&sll=45.497353,-73.571706&sspn=0.014319,0.029182&ie=UTF8&ll=45.497985,-73.572006&spn=0.014318,0.029182&z=15&om=1
