Q: I'm going to montreal in a few days and was wondering where the best place to get money exchanged for the best rate. I know the airport does it, but normally they take a higher percentage than other places so you don't get the best rate. Just want to know if any of you know of any other places to get money exchanged (specifically in Montreal). Thanks!

A: Go to a large bank that has an international currency counter. Try a bank where you have an account -- they will often waive the fee for bank members. Hotels frequently provide currency, depending upon the size of the hotel and it's location. I think that there are American Express offices world-wide that will also do currency conversion, but I believe that they also charge high rates. Do you have credit cards? Credit card companies often provide "best currency rate for the billing period" type of exchange rates, so... if you use your CC you will only pay the best rate for the period in which you charged. Have fun!
