A: A nice alternative to taking the bus is the train. Amtrak runs daily from New York to Montreal and vice versa. The train leaves New York at 8:15 am and gets into Montreal at 6:30 pm for the cost of $64.00. Obviously, the major disadvantage of this mode of transportation is that it is a 10 hour ride and takes a whole day. But unlike a bus, there are electrical outlets (so you can watch a movie or work on your laptop), you can get up and move around, and there is a snack car! Though no matter what mode of transportation you pick, you will get spectcular views of upstate New York.
