What to do in Montreal?

Q: I'm going to Montreal for a week in summer. Apart from catching the Jazz festival what else is there to see/do? Any recommendations for night life? Is it worth going on any 1 or 2 day trips to nearby cities?? thanks!

A: - The Just For Laughs Comedy shows and gala events. - Summer Fireworks competitions (Wed and Sat nights) - Grand Prix de Montreal (Formula 1) car racing - NASCAR in Montreal (This year for first time) There are all sorts of night clubs, bars, and such located mainly between Mackay and Mansfield avenues downtown. You also have the Casino de Montreal and La Ronde (Six Flags) amusement park. For the adult entertainment, there are strip clubs along St. Catherine Blvd such as Chez Paree, Club Supersexe, and others. The only other cities nearby worthy of visiting would be Quebec City and Ottawa. Quebec City is a very historical site built on the remains of an old 17th century French fort, and the fortress walls still run through parts of the city. Ottawa is the nation's capital, and you can check out the parliament buildings and various historical sites there. It's a bit stuffy if you are the type looking for clubs and a night life, but worth mentioning just in case.
