Q: you know... rent, utilities, food, etc.
A: You are looking at least $700/month for your rent, unless you get subsidized housing, but there is always such a long waiting list for them. Utilities can run you around $300-500 for power, gas, water, and phone, if you are lucky you can find a place to rent that has utilities included. And for food it all depends on how much you and your family need, if you have a baby or young one in diapers or on formula, then you are going to be paying more, anywhere from $400 to $600 a month for your groceries, then you have to add transportation(fuel, insurance, bus, cab) so you can be looking at $150 to ? (we spent about $500 a month on transportation with the high gas prices) So to live on $2000 a month could you do it? yes you could do it but it would be tight, there would not be a lot of money left over for emergencies or for the fun stuff.
