Q: I am looking to purchase a pure bread bull-mastiff puppy. I can't seem to find any breeders within 2 hours of ottawa. Please let me know if you have any information. Thanks
A: I purchased my two Bull Mastiffs from a breeder out of Hamilton. A bit further than 2 hours from Ottawa, but worth it. They currently have a litter of Bull Mastiff/Dogue de Bordeaux pups. Beautiful Bull Mstiff features, with the golden red Bordeaux colouring. *Ontario has not banned Bull Mastiffs. Contrary to popular belief, they are of no relation to a Pitt Bull in any way, shape or form. They are a CKC recognized breed, developed in England several hundred years ago, by crossing an Old English Bulldog, and an English Mastiff. It is truly disheartening that many people assume they are a Pitt relation due to "bull" in the name, or that they run in fright, scooping up their handbag dogs, due to a Mastiff's size alone. Pitts and Staffordshires are the two common banned dogs.
