Q: Help! I'm going to Quebec and I need to know if my clothes sizes in the USA are the same, or if they follow the French system, or something totally different!

A: Well, it depends what you're buying. As usual in Canada we have a hard time deciding whether to use a European system or an American system for measurements. Frankly, lately sizes have been so completely confusing I don't even know where to begin answering this question. I know that many companies enjoy making medium sizes seem "small" in order to psycologically trick you into thinking that you've lost weight/size. Sometimes companies (such as Le Chateau) will use their own system of measurement further clouding the issue. Over here in Quebec we have already seen a size 0 as a possibility (which really doesn't make sense when you think about it). I guess a good rule of thumb is: Try it on! Why not? You always have that option. And if you're coming to Quebec, don't forget about taxes... %15 on all goods and services (a big pain in the ass really). You might think that you're saving money on the exchange but actually you probably aren't saving much at the end of the day. Good luck!
