Q: Help a Yankee out.

A: Yes. Thanksgiving is a holiday across Canada, and that currently includes Quebec. Our Thanksgiving was in October (on your Columbus Day), whereas the Americans celebrate it in November. It is a national holiday up here. We celebrate it by getting together with family and friends, and there are special masses at churches. However, in Quebec I find it has mostly been treated as an extra day off work, rather than to reflect on what you have. By the way, I think in USA the Thanksgiving weekend is a big one for retailers, is it not? Up here the big sales are on Boxing Day (DEC-26), not as much Thanksgiving.
