Q: My question is related to my medicare coverage in Canada, specifically Quebec. How long can i legally be outside of the province in order to still be eligible for medicare (once i do return) and how long would i have to stay to be re-eligible? I am planning to be out of the country until at least October. I am a citizen of both Canada and Italy (do not know if that has any bearing on my situation). I've lived in Quebec my whole life. Thanks

A: Quebec's "Regie de l'Assurance Maladie" can help you with that answer. If you will be absent from Quebec for more than 183 days in one calendar year, you must notify the Regie and may need to take out special coverage for yourself. See their section about "Leaving Quebec"
