I am thinking of relocating to Quebec, City.?

Q: I am from Buffalo, New York so I have been to Canada so many times. I even sound like a Canadian with my accent! I have a ton of places I'd like to live one day and Olde Quebec City is one of them. (I've moved to Albany, next is Colorado, I don't know where after that but I'd like it to be Quebec.) What is the typical cost of living? I heard you pay double the taxes to live there, is this correct? (You pay taxes to America and Canda for seven years, I have heard). Has anyone you know relocated to Canada from America? If so, how was the journey? Thank you! Happy 2008!

A: About taxation, I don' t know about the exact figure, but I worked with people who did it and no one mentionned double taxation, but they were saying that USA and Canada had special arrangment for it, you should get info by calling governments. About cost of living, Quebec is known to be one of the most affordable province and Quebec city is a little above average. Salaries are sometimes accordingly. Montreal cost of living can be a little cheaper and the salaries better, but it's a choice of "ambiance" and about the time you want to be stucked in the traffic... For cost of living, some examples : a typical apartment with 1 bedroom will begin between 400 to 600 depending the style and location. Grocery for 4 costs 120-160 per week, average family. Electricity is one of the cheapest in North America (and probably in the world). Gas about 1.10$/liter theses days.
