Q: We will be in Quebec City May 26-June 2/08 and would like to know where we could go watch a playoff game in "English" near our hotel, Hotel Chateau Laurier. Or if you know of any good English speaking attractions we could take in, please let us know.

A: Other than your hotel room.....? a public TV tuned to a English broadcast in Quebec City during the NHL playoffs will be next to impossible. I suggest taking in the "joie de vivre" atmosphere at any franchise of La Cage Aux Sports (http://www.cage.ca/index_en.aspx) where you'll find huge flatscreen tv's and projection screens giving a view from any seat. As for attractions, they don't speak French nor English. You'll find that people working in the service industry, particularly those catering to tourists, will have working knowledge of English and someone well versed on hand. Chateau Laurier is located in the heart of the old city and the whole surrounding area caters to tourists and visiting politicians. The best galleries, museums, restaurants, boutiques, etc.. will all be walking distance from your hotel. Be sure to climb down the stairs facing the hotel and take in the shops and history of "little Champlain Street" just below.
