Can you get a ferry from Canada to the United Kingdom? And more..

Q: And if so does anyone know approximately how much it would cost? Also any suggestions on how we would get our belongings (furniture and what not) over there( My father said by the ferry, I'm not quite sure about this?) 'cause we come across a few international moving companies and they have been over $3,000 which is abit expensive due to us about to have a baby. Thanks!

A: There is definately NO ferry to Canada from the UK - however, there are passenger ships and there is freight and cargo ships. There may even be cargo ships that you can load your furniture and accompany it. You would have to check out: http://seatravel.wordpress.com/2007/11/08/new-transatlantic-cargo-passenger-service-available/ http://www.sustainableshipping.com/forum/Emissions/thread_41/?gsid=26d9a03d9a4780e446b4fe5360940452&asi=1 http://www.kompass.co.uk/directory/products/Shipping_services,_passenger_and_freight/74100.htm There are several sites where you can get information and quotes, here they are: http://www.autoshippers.co.uk/overseas_moving/International_Removals_Canada.htm http://www.excess-baggage.com/shipping_to_canada.php http://www.pssremovals.com/shipping-canada.php http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/shipping-from-uk-to-canada-vancouver-vt1814.html Others ideas: http://www.canuckabroad.com/forums/shipping-furniture-from-canada-to-uk-vt2425.html http://ask.metafilter.com/51424/shipping-from-UK-to-Canada We have known many people that moved from Britain to Canada - most left their main furniture and bought in Canada. You can "rent to own", you can get used things almost in any large city, there are Value Villages that offer discounted things, and IKEA in most large cities offer a variety of different solutions that are reasonable and very nice looking. Hope this helps some.
