Q: While holidaying in Canada I will be travelling from Toronto to Montreal and I notice that cases are restricted to just 66 x 46 x 23cm. What on earth am I going to do?

A: Just like airplanes are restricting how much luggage can be brought on the train, and how big that luggage is, trains are adding restrictions to prevent people from carrying tons of luggage on a trip when others only need 1 or 2 pieces. If you need to bring more than what will fit in their indicated luggage maximum size, you can ask at the train depot if they have a luggage service. Much like a plane, some trains will let passengers have one carry-on bag, and then can check in 3-4 pieces of additional luggage. However, keep in mind that there may be a surcharge for the additional luggage. Check with VIA rail or Amtrak, or whatever train service you will be taking as to their policies on luggage size and quantity.
