Q: Hi everyone, I'm supposed to relocate to Vancouver (from Toronto) in a few weeks for a few weeks, and my work is stationed on Pender just south of W Hastings. I've heard mixed things about the area, seeing as to how it is a few blocks from the infamous Main and E Hastings and just wanted to know a bit of information on the area. General warnings and dangers, areas to watch out for and avoid and things to keep wary of. I've never been there and just like a heads up before I head over there... I welcome any information from both vancouver locals and relocatees like me.. Thanks a lot I really appreciate any info anyone can give me.. =) oh, and I am a 21F.
A: Pender St runs from Burrard to Cardero, putting it in a safe portion of Downtown Vancouver. The location to which you refer is not too far from Canada Place and Harbour Green Park on Burrard Inlet. It is NOT near Main & Hastings. I would say that it is as safe there as anywhere in either downtown Vancouver or Toronto.
