Q:

A: It depends what you're into and what you're looking for. Vancouver is beautiful, green and the pace of life there is a little slower. There's some great hiking and natural sightseeing. Think a California attitude mixed in the weather in Seatle. So it's rather laid back, but cold and wet. Montreal is a great city. If Toronto were the stuffy, uptight businessman then Montreal would be the boozy, fun loving uncle that everybody loves. Montreal has a lot of European charm to it, especially in the old city. But for a real European treat, I'd check out the old city in Quebec city. It's so much like Europe there that it's not funny. There's some fabulous nightlife there, some excellent restaurants and some of the best bagels in North America. Of course no trip to Montreal is complete without doing the following: You have to sit in an outdoor cafe in Place Jacques Cartier, or just about anywhere else and just people watch. You have to have a bagel from St. Viateur, possibly one of the best bagels you will ever have in your life. You have to have a smoked meat sandwich with a pickle and Pepsi. Anything less and you're missing part of the Montreal experience. Don't worry if you don't speak French, a lot of Montrealers do speak a certain amount of English. It is recommended however that you try to speak a few words.
