Q: I am going to Salt Spring Island, British Coloumbia for 3 weeks this summer and I am wondering what are some fun activities to keep me busy.

A: Salt Spring is a bucolic little town amid an island of interesting dalliances. You can hang out "skinny dipping" on Burns Lake, take in the majesty at Mary Lake, stare gape-jawed along the ocean in so many places you can't count. There are local artists everywhere and most have signage welcoming you to drop in, visit a spell and see their wares. Many of them contribute to the Saturday Market in downtown Salt Spring. It is in the center of town and surrounded by a nice park, sitting on the edge of the ocean (can it get any better?) The town itself is very quaint, with most anything you could need or want. One could spend an entire day wandering in and about the downtown core. Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the famous people who live around the Island, too. You might run into Elton John (who often moors his yacht -- the one with a black helicopter on it -- in the harbor), or Phil Collins (whose ex-wife lives there), or "Captain Kirk" (who also lives outside of town.) ...and that's just the "off-the-top-of-my-head" stuff! You're gonna love it!
