Moving to Vancouver?

Q: I am planning on moving to Vancouver Sep,2008 to go to Vancouver Film School. I know its a long way off but what do i need to get to move there? And i am planning on taking my dog with me is there any papers or anything i need to get for her? I'm Moving from Texas

A: Hello Caryn; Just a warning - you may have problems finding a place to rent on your own if you have a dog. Most rentals do not allow pets. But, if you find shared accomodation, say like a house, you will have a much better chance of finding a fellow dog lover, and better yet a yard for your dog to play in. Another caution, there are some neighbourhoods that are not safe at night for a single gal even with a dog especially in East Vancouver (east of Main Street). Take a look at this website in regards to renting with a dog: http://apartmentguide.ca/Renters/renting-with-pets.asp Here are some good sites for accomodation in Vancouver: Renting Canada - http://vancouver.renting.canada.com/properties/search/searchForm.php Craigslist: http://vancouver.craigslist.org/ I hope you have an up to date passport - one that won't expire during your stay here. Good luck, and I hope you do well at school. Cheers, Petra M, Vancouver
