A: You could wrap up a ring or chain or some sort of jewelry that symbolizes that you want to be her boyfriend. It doesn't have to be anything expensive...I've heard of one couple who went steady using a cheap carnival ring that the boy won for his gf. Then give it to her on her birthday and explain that you wanted to give her something special on her birthday, and so you felt the best thing you could give was your heart! Make sure that you indicate that you want to be her boyfriend and not that you want her to be your girlfriend...semantics but it means you offering yourself as a gift rather than expecting her to "belong" to you. If you think it will be a big surprise to her, you may not want to give her that in front of everyone else, since she may not handle it well and you may not get the answer you were hoping for or expecting. This can be a private thing and you can explain that you don't expect her to answer on the spot. I think it is a very romantic idea. Hopefully she will appreciate the thought you put into this.
