Q: is the daylight savings time applied yet or no? because my phone and car have updated but the TV hasn't

A: Daylight savings time, as annoying as it is, saves consuming an extra 440 million barrels of oil a year that we would otherwise use on producing electricity and heating homes when the sun is down. I guess they wanted to up that starting this year by extending the time change by a week at each end. Different continents change at different times too. Europe and Australia have different dates than North America and Asia. The whole thing is just really confusing. There's a state in the lower 48 that is split in half by a time zone and then parts of the state don't observe the change at all and switch from zone to zone depending on the time of year. I pity air traffic controllers during changeovers.
