Q: I'm last minute moving there for work... And I know nothing about the city. What's the best way to get around? What kind of food is good? I'll be staying in the down town area. Anything will help!
A: The transit system is called Translink. If you live downtown then taking the buses are not problem. They run every 10min until around 2-ish. If you come to Vancouver, there are some things you're just going to have to taste as there is a great influx of Asian cuisine. You'll have to try: sushi, dim sum, Indian, Thai....those are the most unique to Vancouver. Let's see, some great restaurants: Banana Leaf, Havana, La Bodega, Locus, Nirvana, Stepho's Souvlaki, Adega, Great Han Mongolian BBQ, Thai House, I could go on and on.......fantastic places to eat! There's a great magazine you can pick up for free, it's called the Georgia Strait. It's great for festivals, artsy farsty things to do, clubbing, great restaurant listings.....I've given you a listing called: The Best of Vancouver.......the Georgia gives a survey out every year for the best food, best clubs, etc. They're compiled and it'll give you an idea of the things to do and where to eat.
