Going to Vancouver, got any ideas??

Q: My friends and I are going to Vancouver this weekend to see the Spice Girls, and we need some ideas on what to do and how to get around. We're staying with a friend, but we are not sure on how well he knows the city and transit system(he's been living there since august.) We're from Winnipeg, if that helps you, so it's not a foreign country to us. P.S Two of us are 18 and one is still 17. So not old enough to go to the bar in B.C.

A: Take the skytrain to Metrotown - there's a huge mall there and lots of shopping to be had. Robson street also has some good shopping, but it's very expensive. There's also Pacific Centre down=town. A walk around the Stanley Park seawall is a nice way to see the sights and get really chilly.. a good excuse to go to one of the multiple coffee shops for a hot coffee! It's supposed to be clear and cold (balmy by Winnipeg standards) on Friday, but we may get some snow on Saturday and Sunday. You'll get to laugh at Vancouver drivers as they try to negotiate snow. I would also suggest trying soem ethnic foods while you're here. Go to Chinatown (although be careful - it's very close to the down-town eastside, which is a very down and out neighbourhood) or to either Surrey or Little India for some Chinese or Indian food. Yum yum! And finally, go visit the universities. SFU is on top of Burnaby Mountain and sports some lovely views. If it's snowing, expect chaos because being on a mountain, they get snow before the rest of the lower mainland. UBC is out at West Point Grey in Vancouver, and it's a beautiful old campus. Have a great time!
