Q: we have decided to take a trip to either british colombia...or maybe alaska sometime either in oct/nov. if we decide BC, it will be somewhere close to vancouver area. alaska has not been decided. we are not going for the fishing or skiing, but for relaxing. any help will be great.

A: In Vancouver, plan for rain, but that also means less tourists. There's plenty of shopping, particularly Robson street, which has a lot of restaurants, Sears, Starbucks, movie theatre, a small mall and trinket shops. The Gastown area of Vancouver is also nice to visit, some good small shops, the steam clock is a popular attraction there, you can learn more at http://www.gastown.org/ . If you don't mind travelling about half an hour from downtown, there's a very large mall, Metrotown (website: metropolis.shopping.ca/ ). Last but not least, I'd suggest visiting Granville Island (5 minute drive from downtown). It has a martketplace, and stage theatre ( http://www.granvilleisland.com/en/node ).
