Q: anywhere near the city? thanks.

A: Wow. You cannot hunt boar, hog, or pig here. This isn't South America and we don't have these animals running around freely. The closest thing to pig here is the farms and the pork in the stores. What we do have here are....Moose, Elk, Black Bears, Grizzly Bears, Wolves, Coyotes, Foxes, Rabbits, Raccoons, Lynxes, Cougars, Badgers and a myriad of other wildlife. There are certain seasons where certain animals are open to hunting. You need a Firearms Acquisition Certificate or an F.A.C. (which will require R.C.M.P. clearance and a Fingerprint check) and also a hunting permit in order to hunt. There are also designated areas where you can and cannot hunt. You cannot hunt within 400 metres of any highway. If you are from the United States, you can also not just drive your firearm or rifle across the border. Canada also does not allow certain types of weapons...like macs, uzis...etc. If you wish to go after big game then try a hunting lodge in Canada. There are numerous websites where you will have help to fill out Canadian forms and a guide for the particular area you are seeking. Anyways, hope this helps to get you started.
