A: Probably the first thing you should do is look for a job or find an employer to sponsor you. You have to apply for a work permit from outside Canada, and the process is much easier if you have found a job first. Then you live in Canada for at least a year before you are eligible to apply for permanent residency. You have to be a permanent resident for at least 3 years before you can apply for citizenship if you are interested in that. As a US citizen you can visit Canada and stay for 6 months without any kind of visa. Here is a link to the Canadian immigration site which is a good place to start. Best of luck with your plans.
