Q:

A: If you have a hammer and a pulse, you can get a job in construction. If you can get on with a good company, and you are a ticketed journeyman carpenter, wages run about 16-20 dollars an hour to start. Some guys are getting upwards of 28/hour, but those jobs are hard to come by even in this market. Lots of opportunity for overtime, so you can make a decent take-home wage. Watch out for the "under the table" cash guys - it may sound good, but they don't cover you for workers comp if you get hurt, and they won't supply you with any safety gear like harnesses and lifelines. Lots of residential jobs in Surrey/Langley that run this way....
