Q: Hey I am in Grade 12 wanting to go to UBC for Business... If you go here or know anyone can you tell me what you like about it and what you don't like about it? Could you tell me a bit about Vancouver too? Thanks!

A: I didn't attend UBC, so I can't tell you about the program, but the campus is very nice. UBC has a very good academic reputation, so having an undergrad degree from UBC would open doors. My understanding is the UBC has decent bus service, including express buses. The campus is right on the western edge of the penninsula which Vancouver is on, so it gets ocean-breezes and slightly milder climate than further east into the city and beyond. The UBC area has several beaches around it - including Wreck beach (a nudist beach) which can be a distraction to studies (grin). Vancouver is quite pricey. The cost of housing (to buy or to rent) is expensive. It rains *a lot* in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. While we have had snowfalls lately, they are generally short-lived and rather soggy. When it snows, don't expect to get anywhere fast, as most Vancouver drivers go into panic mode when the first snowflake falls. I hope this helps! Good luck on your decision!
