Q: I'm wanting to go on vaca for the summer there with my mom and see a friend. Any ideas of where to stay and how much plane tickets and everything would cost? I want to go for like a couple weeks and go by plane with my mom and dog. Staying in a reasonable hotel that allows dogs (he's a shih tzu - 16 lbs.).
A: Hard to answer the question with such little information. How long are you planning to stay? "For the summer" is pretty vague. What type of accommodation are you looking for? Is there a particular area you would like to be close to? Are you going to need a car? Well after your additional details things are still vague but..... Return flights from say Little Rock in July, look to be about $500 and up per person. No idea what they charge for animals. Google "pet friendly hotels in Vancouver" and you get a lot of places starting at about, say $125 a night after tax and up. Use that as a minimum ballpark figure.(Probably more in the summer.) You'd have to decide where you want to stay and each hotel may have it's own restrictions on the size of pets allowed. So basically your up to a minimum of say $2750 just for the combination of flight and accommodations for two people for two weeks. Then you have to add how much you want to budget yourself per day on things like food, other shopping, and attractions etcetera. I'd budget about $4500 to $5000 for the whole trip. Better to plan spending more than you think you will. Still don't know if you need a car.
