Ottawa to Vancouver.Young professional mid 20's looking for an apartment somewhere hip/trendy?(see

Q: I'm starting a new job in Vancouver (down town) in 6 weeks. I enjoy the night life, shopping, and gym =) Looking for 1 room apartment where ALL appliances are included (does not have to be this way but I wish) and rent should be +/- $1000 monthly, less is always better I say.... the area must must must have easy commuting due to early or late shifts. Like I said before, a young bachelor looking to save some money (so I can eventually open a business) and wants to enjoy Vancouver at the same time. HELP PLEASE (websites, etc)? Thanks. p.s. I will stay away from lower east side, Richmond, and Surrey, Arbutus (to live). I have been doing some research :P

A: Richmond and Surrey are different cities and Arbutus is really nice but not too happening. There's no way you'll save money on that budget and I don't know that you'll find a place with those criteria. I think you should look for roommates. West end and Yaletown are probably what you're going for but they're really expensive. You won't find many apartments with washer/dryers built in (almost all bldgs have laundry rooms) and many won't have dishwashers. Apartments typically include utilities, but not always. Good luck!
