Q: iam a nurse and have a 4yr old boy.im told child care is expensive,is it much more than we pay the uk?the other question is roughly how much would a 2bed house cost to rent?a lot of people have reccommened vancouver that it is very nice.is it better than london?

A: lol, well actually the cost of living in vancouver is very high compared to the rest of canada, and it also has a relatively high crime rate due to drug problems. its a beautiful city, but it has some drug problems. LOL, of course compared to london england it's the garden of eden, but for raising a kid i can recommend some better places. http://www.macleans.ca/article.jsp?content=20080312_162114_5536#sexualassault&cb=0 those are some crime stats for the country. ontario has a lower cost of living, and if youre a nurse you wont have trouble finding a job. alberta has slightly higher cost of living, but youll get paid a lot more at your job, and still probably wont have trouble finding employment. id say go with calgary over edmonton, and if you choose ontario, toronto is the main hub, but i dont personally like it. i prefer the smaller cities. burlington, oakville, guelph, kitchener vancouver is still a great place to live, and i think north vancouver doesnt have the issues that van city has. canada is a pretty sweet place to raise a kid though. i cant give you rental prices in vancouver, but in guelph ontario (1 hour from toronto) its about 1200 dollars for a 3 bedroom house. not many two bedrooms. a two bedroom apartment might be 900. i dont think child care is more expensive.
